The Hood Rats is a multifaceted tale of four friends who must decide who their real allies are. When life as they know it quickly unravels, the Hood Rats are forced to think deeply about life, love and most importantly, change.
E.R. McNair introduces Gary, Indiana’s own brat pack: Bre, Nesha, Nicky and CeeCee. These notorious hood ladies put their lifelong friendships to the test as their young adulthood filled with partying, sexing and drugging crashes, leaving them scrambling for the worry-free past. Ultimately, the Hood Rats must face their futures alone as differences between them are simply too extreme to hold the group together. For some of the girls, opportunities to escape the hood are taken as acts of God’s grace; for the others, the hood becomes a permanent hell in which so many others have found themselves trapped.
McNair constructs an undeniably realistic narration, giving Bre, Nesha, Nicky and CeeCee their own voices throughout the novel. This is not a release to be missed – The Hood Rats will inspire readers to love unconditionally, hope in any case, and always look to change for the better.
