I’m in the coffee shop debating with a close friend of mine about the amount of energy that it takes to be “down on your luck”. My friend is very successful and has recently been dealt a card that he feels is the end of the world but I’m on the other side of the table like. . “nigga, you pulled up in a Maserati. . How bad is yah life, nigga I drive a honda. .”. He ended up leaving and I went on to check my email only to see that there was a new interview of “VS” (for the lames that means, Vickie Stringer) by Black Voices very own Lynette Holloway.
VS expresses her views on the so called “bad reputation” of urban literature and how the industry will always try to find an angle to bring down something that is so great and empowering to the urban culture. She also drops the jewel that success comes down to how bad you want that shit. ..you can’t just sit around whining about how “so & so” said that it can’t be done. . .or that “so & so” is making big money on the other side of town doing what I want to do. GET YO ASS UP and make it shake!
Vickie Stringer just dropped a new book to the “Dirty Red” series, “Dirtier Than Ever” and let Black Voices know that she WILL be dropping two more books to this series. .so stay tuned.
